Award-winning Nigerian journalist, Taiwo Adebulu, who currently serves as the Features & Investigations Editor at TheCable, Nigeria, has been chosen as one of the 25 journalists worldwide to participate in the 2023 Covering Rare Diseases Fellowship organised by the National Press Foundation (NPF).
The fellowship, which will take place virtually from November 13 to 17, 2023, aims to bring together journalists from diverse backgrounds and regions, uniting their collective storytelling skills to shed light on the often-overlooked world of rare diseases.
Adebulu, renowned for his in-depth investigative reporting and commitment to covering critical health issues in Nigeria and Africa, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity on Twitter. In a pinned tweet, he said, “Thank you @NatPress for the fellowship. It’s another unique opportunity to tell important stories about health in Africa.”
The 25 selected journalists are from various corners of the world, including Nepal, Argentina, Italy, India, Hong Kong, Uganda, El Salvador, Germany, the United States, Ukraine, Lesotho, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya, Burundi, Vietnam, Brazil, Malaysia, and Ghana. This global representation underscores the importance of tackling rare diseases on a worldwide scale.
According to nationalpress.org, the journalists selected as fellows for this program will also receive up to $3,000 in reporting grants to cover travel expenses and time in executing a rare disease project of their choosing.
