More than a year after the print version hit the newsstand, Asejere, an indigenous tabloid in Yoruba language has launched its website, www.asejere.net
The website according to the publishers will serve to further reach out to its teeming readers, and it will continue to focus on connecting and promoting commerce and entrepreneurs among the people in the south-west region of the country, as well as those in the diaspora.
In a statement by the Publisher, Sam Akinrole, he said www.asejere.net is positioned to give top-notch economic news stories and interviews with personalities of Yoruba descent, who have made their mark in commerce.
He said the portal is designed to feed readers with well-researched and in-depth stories on the various segments of the business and commerce.
It will be recalled that Asejere, which was an addition to the indigenous language newspaper market, was launched over a year ago to promote the economic ingenuity of the Yoruba people.
The online portal is an addition to the print version, which has been on the newsstand.
“Our goal is to educate the Yoruba people anywhere they may be all over the world, especially those who are in the bracket of the informal sector; tradesmen, artisans, market men and women, workers, employed, unemployed.
“We need them to know how they can better do their business and ply their trade, while also showcasing the people that formulate the policies that have an impact directly or indirectly on their business and trade.
“Not only that, Asejere also seeks to give a boost to Yoruba Language promotion, especially in our public life.
“It will also help to avoid the prediction of UNICEF that by 2025, a lot of indigenous languages would have gone to extinction,” Akinrole added.
