The Cable Newspaper Journalism Foundation (CNJF) has announced 13 Nigerian journalists today as fellows for its Amplifying Climate Storytelling Fellowship program, which is organised in partnership with TheCable Newspaper.
According to the announcement on TheCable Newspaper’s website, the fellows, seven male and six female journalists from print, online, and broadcast newsrooms in the country, were selected from a pool of 78 applicants to ensure diversity and gender balance.
The fellows represent various media organisations, including Tribune, Sahara Reporters, Legit.ng, Dataphyte, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
The fellowship includes a capacity-building training scheduled for February 3 and 4 in Lagos. It will feature a field trip to a coastal community, and participants can receive a modest climate story grant.
CNJF is the non-profit organisation of TheCable Newspaper and the Amplifying Climate Storytelling Fellowships, supported by the US Consulate Lagos Public Diplomacy Section, is designed to build the capacity of journalists to tell local climate stories across the country.
