Wij2016: Calling women journalists

The third edition on Women in Journalism conference ( Wij2016) will hold on Thursday, July 21 at the MUSON Centre, Lagos.
The theme of the event which is free for interested participants is Excellence and Ethics.
According to the Director of the programmes, Yomi Owope, ” WiJ2016 is not just another media gathering – it is the celebration of Excellence and an affirmation of Ethics in Journalism even in an age where such virtues are in decline.”
” Hundreds of women journalists and people in media, PR and communications will gather for the event.
” It’s time for a family meeting; A coming together of leading and aspiring women pursuing journalism excellence and upholding ethics.”

According to information available on eventbrite.com ” Women in Journalism is an annual conference organised by AOL Nigeria, in partnership with various organisations with strong interest in women’s issues with the aim of spotlighting African women in the media and inspiring the next generation of women and girls in issues relating to education, journalism, leadership and media enterprise.”
“Founded by writer and anchorman Yomi Owope, the first Conference (WiJ2014) held at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island Lagos, with the participation onsite and online, of more than 300 local and international journalists in print and electronic media.
“Equally successful was the second edition, WIJ2015, which took place on July 2, 2015. Notable speeches at both Conferences were delivered by the CEO of Thomson Reuters Foundation, Monique Villa, Courage in Journalism Award winner Christiana Anyanwu, Hon Abike Dabiri, Chairman of Ebony Life TV, Mo Abudu and veteran journalists, Siene Allwell-Brown, Kehinde Young-Harry Bimbo Oloyede and many others.
