Code for Africa seeks News Editor [Deadline: September 5, 2025]
Code for Africa (CfA) is seeking a veteran News Editor to lead its iLAB data journalism newsdesk, which works with forensic analysts and OSINT specialists across the African Network of Centres for Investigative Reporting (ANCIR). iLAB drives complex, cross-border investigations into corruption, organised crime, illicit financial flows, disinformation campaigns, and online polarisation that individual newsrooms cannot tackle alone.
This fully remote Africa-based role involves managing a dynamic news desk, guiding data journalists, and turning complex findings into impactful reports and evidence dossiers. The News Editor will oversee editorial planning, run diary and planning meetings, coordinate deadlines, and ensure content meets high editorial standards.
Candidates must have 10+ years’ editorial management experience in investigative or data-heavy newsrooms, excellent writing/editing skills, strong news judgment, and proven success managing remote, multilingual teams. OSINT and disinformation monitoring expertise are key.
CfA offers competitive pay, medical cover, global exposure, and growth opportunities.
