Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) is seeking to appoint a full-time Program Manager – Nigeria to lead a new media innovation initiative aimed at strengthening the sustainability of Nigerian media organizations.
The organisation is seeking a highly competent and organized media professional in a full-time contract position for the duration of the program (end-date 31 December 2024). The successful applicant will be based in Nigeria, either Lagos or Abuja. S/he will ideally be able to start immediately, at the latest by 1 May 2022. The Program Manager will report to MDIF’s Program Director for Africa & MENA.
Duties
Leading the process of identifying media organizations to participate in program activities
Recruiting and managing a staff of 3 people – 2 x program officers, 1 x program administrator – and coordinating closely with MDIF staff working on the program internationally
Ensuring the effective implementation of all the program’s media development activities
Managing and monitoring the development and execution of project deliverables, leading project planning, budgeting, action planning processes, and ensuring compliance with all partner contractual requirements and MDIF policies and procedures
Media Programme & Opportunities THISWEEK ( Feb 28 – March 5, 2022)
Establishing sound professional relationships with, and acting as the primary contact point for, media partners, coaches, and technical advisors
Preparing narrative and financial reports on a regular basis for the donor and preparing annual activity-based plans, also producing regular internal program updates
Troubleshooting program problems, identifying best practices and lessons learned, and analysing Monitoring & Evaluation data
Developing systems to ensure the effective gathering, storage, analysis, and confidentiality, of program-related data
Monitoring and advising MDIF on political, economic and social developments as they impact the media sector
Requirements
Degree in Media, Journalism or similar
Fluent in English, knowledge of other languages is recommended. Proven experience in media, journalism, media management or media support fields
Deep understanding of the media environment in Nigeria
Existing contacts with key players and up-and-coming talent is an advantage
Outstanding communication, organization and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage coaches, external consultants and experts
Passion for press freedom
