Seasoned journalist Abdulwaheed Odusile has been named as the Chief Executive Officer of KAFTAN Television.

 

The Board of Directors of KAFTAN Television confirmed Odusile’s appointment on March 4 and he will assume the position effective Monday, March 11, 2024.

 

On assumption, Odusile is given the power to set up a new management team and re-organise the company in a way that satisfies professional needs as he is now responsible for the company’s growth, profitability strategy and corporate performance.

 

Odusile who was Ogun state’s immediate former Commissioner for Information and Strategy has an active journalism career spanning over three decades across the print and broadcast media.

 

The graduate of Mass Communication from the Polytechnic Ibadan and a Master’s degree holder in Legal studies started his journalism career in 1985 and has worked in different media houses including the defunct National Concord, Thisday Newspaper, Daily Sun, National Life and The Nation Newspaper.

 

As a journalist, he has traversed the different cadres of the profession from a reporter to News Editor, Foreign Editor, Politics Editor, Deputy Editor, Title Editor and Managing Editor. Odusile is also a published researcher with many publications to his credit among which are: ‘Media Ethics and Promotion of Democratic Culture in Nigeria’, ‘The Media, Socio-Cultural and Political Integration’, and ‘Thoughts on Media Policy’.

 

Odusile is also a proven leader in national and international journalism bodies and associations. He rose to become the National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in 2015 after serving in different positions in the Lagos chapter. He was also the President of the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) between 2016 and 2019 and also an Executive committee member of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).

Odusile is also a published researcher with many publications to his credit among which are: ‘Media Ethics and Promotion of Democratic Culture in Nigeria’, ‘The Media, Socio-Cultural and Political Integration’, and ‘Thoughts on Media Policy’
