The management of LEADERSHIP Newspapers Group has approved the appointment of Catherine Hembadoon Agbo as the Editor of its daily edition.
Agbo who until her appointment was the Editor, Sunday takes over from Stanley Kingsley Nkwocha who has been promoted, Managing Editor, Business and Strategy of the company.
The appointment according to the company is part of its on-going repositioning package aimed at improving the quality of its publications.
With her appointment, Agbo becomes the second female currently editing a daily national newspaper in the country. Ijeoma Nwagwugwu is Executive Director and Editor of THISDAY Newspapers.
A graduate of Linguistics from Benue State University, Makurdi in 2006, Agbo also holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Abuja, and has attended several professional courses, conferences and seminars both in Nigeria and abroad.
She joined LEADERSHIP in 2007 as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, was employed as Reporter at the end of the service year and rose through the ranks to become the newspaper’s City Editor, acting Editor Friday, acting Editor Weekend and Editor Sunday, before her latest appointment.
Agbo is a member of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE).
The new Managing Editor, Business and Strategy, Stanley Kingsley Nkwocha, is a graduate of Economics from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State.
He joined LEADERSHIP in 2007 as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and has been acting Editor Weekend.
