November 15 deadline for Migration Reporter Competition

Sunday, November 15, 2020, is the deadline for The Migration Reporter Competition for Nigerian journalists launched by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The award is designed as an annual competition to commemorate International Migrants Day, a United Nations day to raise awareness about the benefits and challenges of international migration, as well as to recognise and celebrate the contributions of migrants to their countries of origin and the communities that welcome them.
The competition rewards the excellence, relevance and newsworthiness of nine works of journalism in three different categories dealing with the challenges faced by migrants in their quest for a better life, the risks of trafficking and smuggling and other thematic areas that address contemporary issues on migration.

Journalists from all media houses, as well as independent and freelance professionals in Nigeria can participate in the competition by sending previously unpublished or published materials to compete for the grand prize of NGN 300,000 (three hundred thousand naira), and a laptop.

Qualified journalists are encouraged to apply and add their voice to prevent trafficking in persons and promote safe migration.
Interested candidates can submit their entries to migration@iom.int.
