Publisher of popular blog site, ladunliadinews.com, Ms Oladunni Liadi has stated that blogging is financially rewarding.
She noted this during an interview with The NATION recently. According to her, blogging is just like “yahoo yahoo scam.”
“The money just keeps coming in, and sometimes you say God, this is something I started like a ‘joke’. I just wanted my own voice, I just wanted to write. But today, the story is different. It has been very rewarding financially and I owe it to God.”
She confessed that the blog has received tremendous advert patronage from advertisers. For her, advert patronage on the award winning blog is “where the real money is” in blogging.
Liadi’s quest to ‘work all the time’ geared her into blogging after a two-year stretch in mainstream journalism. “I practiced journalism for two years before going into blogging,” she noted.
“I just felt it wasn’t challenging enough because I still had a lot of time to myself and I wanted to work all the time. Then I got to know about blogging and I said YES. Now I have my own medium with which I can work as long as I want,” she added.
However, Liadi, a graduate of Accounting highlighted power instability and poor internet connection as the major challenges bedeviling blogging in Nigeria. For her, these challenges should not hamper any ‘serious blogger’.
