Independent back with new editors

After being off the streets for months following shut down protest by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, ( NUJ), Independent newspaper is back on the newsstand with some new editorial managers.
Although Ted Iwere, a member of the board of directors who has always being the Chief Executive Officer of the company remains the Executive Editor, Olisa Egbunike is the new editor of the paper.
Egbunike retired from News Agency of Nigeria as Assistant Editor-in-Chief in October 2015.
Steve Omanufeme is now the Associate editor, Don Okere , Deputy Editor, Lagos, Muka Popoola is Deputy Editor, Abuja and Austin Oboh, Deputy Editor, Asaba.
Other editorial managers are Chukwudi Nweje, Metro Editor, Peter Edema, Sports Editor, Sam Anokam, Life Editor and Sylvester Enoghse, Business Editor.
The Political Editor is Temidayo Akinsuyi, Chairman Editorial Board, Donatus Duru and Photo Editor, Kunke Ajayi.
Former editor of the paper, Kingsley Ighowemghlan is now head of Business and Marketing Intelligence Unit, while Onche Odeh, former Sunday Editor was redeployed as General Manager, Northern operations.
The company was shut down over unpaid salaries. Some old staff have since been paid off while those recalled are yet to be paid.
