Commentary entries will however be assessed on Subject, Substance, Significance, Structure, Style and Size.

The organisers also noted that a single work can only be entered in one category, and no individual should submit more than two entries in a category. Any challenge to the fairness or accuracy of an entry, such as rejoinders or corrections, should be mentioned in the cover letter.

First held in 1992, DAME is a not-for-profit trust established to enhance professionalism in the Nigerian media. Apart from the 33 uninterrupted annual awards presentations to date, it holds periodic trainings for media professionals.
