The publisher of Hallmark Newspaper, a business, policy and finance newspaper, Prince Emeka Obasi is dead.
Obasi, 58, a former Abia State Commissioner for Information, reportedly died on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, after a protracted illness in a Lagos hospital.
He was said to have been battling a health challenge for the past eight years which he recovered from and wrote a book titled Saved for His Praise.
His death was confirmed in a statement by the family in a statement signed by Prince Emeka Obasi (Jnr).
Obasi was also the former publisher of the National Mirror which he sold to lawyer and businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim.
A graduate of English from the University of Calabar, Obasi was a reporter with defunct Newswatch Magazine and Quality Magazine.
He is the founder and executive secretary of Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre (PPRAC), organisers of the annual Zik Prize in Leadership Awards and initiator of the Awolowo Foundation.
He is survived by his wife, Dr (Mrs) Betty Obasi and Children – Emeka (jnr), Onyedikachi, Kamsi, Miracle, siblings aunties and uncles.
The family said further burial arrangements will be announced soon.
His death has attracted condolence messages from many colleagues in the media.
