Associated Press (AP) has announced the appointment of Taiwo Adebayo, Investigation and Data Editor of Premium Times to cover the intersection of climate and business in Africa from June 1, 2023.

Adebayo’s appointment was announced in a memo to the staff of AP, by the Global Business Editor Noreen Gillespie according to a blog post by the Nicole MeirMedia Relations Manager.

He will be based in Abuja and report to Courtney Bonnell, business editor for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and collaborate closely with the climate team.

“He has deep knowledge about climate, business and how both topics intersect with vulnerable communities in Nigeria and West Africa.

“He has experience on ambitious multiformat climate and business projects, including leading reporting for Nigerian stories as part of the Panama Papers and Pandora Papers investigations with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

“He has won investigative awards in Nigeria and Ford Foundation grants to report on climate issues,” Meir stated.

Announcing his new appointment, Adebayo stated in a tweet that he is exiting PREMIUM TIMES after nearly nine years of some seriously consequential journalism that is multi-sectorally rich.

“My work at PT, which I am leaving as Editor/Head, of Investigations and Data, is a record of accomplishing excellence in producing enlightening news coverage and richly reported and high-impact enterprise across the business, illicit financial flows, politics, conflict, human rights, corruption, natural resources, development, and the environment.
