Associate Editor and multiple award-winning journalist with The Nation Newspaper, Olatunji Ololade, has emerged the winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Peace category of the 2021 Fetisov Journalism Awards (FJA).
Ololade who is the only Nigerian among the 12 winners of the award chosen from 400 stories from 80 countries won with his story “The Boys Who Swapped Football for Bullets”.
Other categories of the award are Outstanding Investigative Reporting, Contributions to Civil Rights and Excellence in Environmental Reporting.
Ololade and other first prize-winners receive in each category will get a cash prize of 100,000 CHF, while the second and third prizes respectively are 20,000 CHF and 10,000 CHF.
Aidan White, President of the Ethical Journalism Network and Honorary Advisor to the Fetisov Journalism Awards said the winners of this year’s Fetisov Journalism Awards are chosen in troubled times and are superb examples of fact-based journalism that people need to meet these challenges.
“These winning stories demonstrate why truth-telling journalism is important to all of us. Today we pay tribute to all the winners, and we congratulate them! They have done good work, and they have made a difference in people’s lives.”
