A journalism lecturer at the Nigeria Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Mike Osuji has published a new book titled African communication system in a global and digital age.

The book is structured into two parts with the first part tagged: “concepts, channels and messages of African communication system”.

It revealed, among others, membership of traditional African Communication media channels, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses.

Some of the channels covered in the book, included Town criers, Market place, folk tales, talking drums, burial ceremonies, among others.

In the second part of the Book, the author examined contemporary issues in the traditional African communication system, including the application of the media of African in solving contemporary problems in Africa such as conflict, corruption, leadership, insecurity, et al.

In the age of digital disruption in the media, the author also compared modern and traditional media to achieve effective communication.

Commenting on the Book, Joseph Adepoju Tejumaiye, Head of Department of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos, described it as a “reference Bible for communication scholars, community leaders, information officers of Federal, State and Local Governments”.
