Wole Soyinka Lecture/NITDA Digital Skills Training

*The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism will hold the 12th edition of its annual media lecture series on Monday, July 13.
The event which will be held virtually for the first time as a webinar will discuss the theme: Data, Media and National Development.
Time of the programme is 10 am to 12noon West Africa Time (WAT).
The panellists are Oluwayemi Alaba, (Senior Lecturer Statistics Department University of Ibadan), Yemi Kale and (Statistian Career of the Federation, CEO Nigerian National Bureau of Statistics).
Others are Mannir Dan-Ali (Board Member, Media Trust Limited Former Editor-In-Chief $ CEO Daily Trust), Seun Onigbinde (Co-founder and Director, BudgIT Foundation) and Moderator Chioma Agwuegbo (Founder, TechHer).

*The National Information Technology Development Agency @NITDANigeria, under the supervision of Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy @FMoCDENigeria will hold a 5-Day Training for ICT Media Practitioners on “Digital Skills in News Reportage for ICT Journalists”.

The capacity building programme will take place from 13th-17th July 2020.

The International Center for Journalists will join internet pioneers to discuss an urgent question on Reinventing The Journalism Business Model: What will it take?
The speakers are Vint Cert (Internet Pioneer), Patricia Torress-Burd (Media Development Investment Fund), Richard  Gingrass (Google News), Ninshant Lalwani (Luminate).
The International Centre for Investigative Journalism is a nonprofit that supports the truth-tellers.

Workshop 3-Skills and Outlook for the New Media Age
Media Career Development Network and  The CoBuilders Academy will continue with the series of virtual workshops designed to equip media professionals with the knowledge and skills for sustainable and profitable innovation in the media industry.
Tools and skills are important for advancement. Here, participants will be taken through modules of training in technologies such as web development, SEO and Search Engine, content (text and video) marketing, self-service platforms, review services, e-commerce, membership sites, online editorial, and advertising, data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, information technology strategies, ICT, trend convergence, innovators’ mindset, cloud technologies, coding and programming, technological barriers and how to circumvent them, waiting for innovation to take root, etc.

Workshop 4:Career and Project Development
Speakers on the final session of the virtual workshop on deploying technology for Impact and Profit by Media Career Development Network and The Co-Builders are: Michael Nelson, Lekan Otufodunrin and Project Development and Management,   Alex Ogundadegbe (CEO, Optimum Performance Training)
5pm-7pm GMT+1 (Nigeria Time)
In this workshop, participants will be entered into a contest for N200,000 investment into an idea that that passes the test of innovative thinking.
Participants have to Sign Up for a CoBuilders Account to post their projects on The CoBuilders Platform. Judges will review the projects on the Find Opportunities page. The selected project will be supported by CoBuilders in the amount of the award.
