Journalists who have written and published articles on fertility between January 2019-January 31st, 2020 have been invited to apply for the NORDICA MEDIA MERIT AWARDS 2020.

Applicants should upload published articles on https://www.nmma.com.ng or send printed copies to 2A Adeniyi, Jones Alaba Johnson Crescent, off Ikeja, Lagos.

Submission for the print, broadcast and digital categories starts 1st March 2020 and closes 6th April 2020.

Winners in each category will get N250,000 as prizes.

Martins Ifijeh of This Day Newspaper won the print category of the award in 2018 and 2019.

The winning entry by Ifijeh highlighted how heavy metals and industrial chemicals from oil exploration in Nigeria has increased the risk of infertility and deprived couples exposed to them from having babies.

Olasumbo Modupe of Lagos Television emerged the winner in the electronic category while Anthonia Obokor of Business Day Newspapers emerged the winner in the online category in 2019.

Nordica Lagos Fertility Centre is one of Nigeria’s Leading centre for Assisted Reproductive Services.

During the award ceremony last year, the Managing Director, Nordica Fertility Centre, Dr. Abayomi Ajayi, described the award as part of the organisation’s efforts to reward excellence in fertility reportage in Nigeria.

According to him,  such quality stories will help raise more awareness of reproductive health issues in the country.

Members of the jury board included the Editor-in-Chief/General Manager Publications of Vanguard Newspapers, Gbenga Adefaye and former Editor of  The Nation Newspapers, Gbenga Omotoso.
