The 2018 Nigeria Breweries Plc Golden Pen Award ceremony will hold on Friday, September 28 at the Civic Centre, Lagos.
Winners of the award will be announced at the ceremony scheduled to commence at 5pm.
Prizes for the 10th edition of the award according to the sponsors have been reviewed upwards for the winning journalists to sustain the award’s position as the preeminent award for exceptional journalists in Nigeria.
The Award has produced eight winners in the Journalist of the Year category and several winners in the Photo Journalist of the Year category.
“This 10th edition, we have decided to maintain “Agriculture, Local Sourcing and Industrial Development” as the theme for the Golden Pen Award to draw attention to the enormous potential we have to be self-sufficient and prosperous as a nation and as a people.
“In 2008, our company inaugurated the Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Award to reward and honour journalists for their dedicated news reportage and pursuance of the fine ethics of the profession. Since its inception, we have been encouraged by the quality of winning entries and we are proud that the Golden Pen Award has so far achieved its objective of encouraging professionalism in reporting,” Corporate Affairs Adviser of NB, Kufre U. Ekanem stated in a pre-award letter of invitation.
