Deputy Managing Director of Sun Newspapers, Steve Nwosu, Sunday Editor, Alhaji Fatai Oladehinde and some other top mangers lost their jobs on Thursday in a surprise purge by the company.
Others top editorial staff affected included Chairman, Editorial Board, Mrs Wale Sokunbi, Editor, Investigations, Ikenna Emewu, Editor, Special Projects, Emeka Okoroayanwu, Editor, Sporting Sun and John Joshua Akanji.
Three General Managers, Neta Nwosu (Marketing and Corporate Services), Obioma Ogukwe (Finance) and Ogechi Uche (Human Resources) were also reported to have been sacked.
The exercise said to have been authorized by the Publisher, Orji Kalu reportedly caught the Eric Osagie-led Management unawares.
Until the sack letters were distributed no one was sure whose name was not on the list.
