Torrents of tributes flooded facebook on Friday following the death of a Business Correspondent of The Nation Newspaper, Bukola Afolabi-Aroloye.

Bukola who gave birth to twins last month, died on Thursday in her residence in Ikorodu after suddenly taking ill.

Colleagues, friends  and family members were in tears as they  gathered at the family house on Friday before she was buried.

Before joining The Nation, she has worked with the defunct National Life and TELL Magazine.

Some of the tributes by colleagues are reproduced below:

Bukky. No. No. I and Theo my colleague were in your house on Monday to greet you and the twins. We sat on your bed in your room while the twins were enjoying their sleep. We chatted, laughed. You asked about my son’s admission and I broke the good news to you. You saw us to the car with a smile and said good bye with a wave of hand.
Oh! I didnt know you really mean good bye!. Bukky why? May your soul rest in peace

I knew Bukky from her early years at The Week. She always related to me in a most friendly manner. I always wanted her around whenever we met at events. It’s difficult to come to the reality that she is no more. May God grant her rest .

Oh death where is your sting. O grave where is your victory. So sad to hear about my lovely sisters death early today. Bukky as i use to call you. Not quite long you called and told me that you put to bed now people keep on calling me that you are dead. What kind of life is this. Since morning I have been looking at all our pictures in our functions crying because you are too good a person. Well God giveth and taketh. I take solace in him. May God give your husband, your mother, your children and the entire family the fortitude to bear this great loss. To FICAN, CAMCAN and others beats you belong to, a ku ara fera ku o. Ojo a jina si ara o. Adieu.

Bukola Bridget Afolabi Aroloye  has been an amazing friend. I always looked forward to our meetings during NDIC and CBN seminars.  She calls and chat me up every now and then. Two weeks ago she called and I didn’t pick because after the last call,  I had promised to make the next call so I allowed the call to end.  Then I  called her back and she said “my friend God has blessed me with twins I done sell shop “we laughed and had and amazing chat which painfully is the last. I am pained by your demise…may God console your family and protect children

As you are being committed to mother earth now my darling bukky, I pray the good Lord grant your soul eternal rest and may He comfort your mum, husband and the little children you left behind. Just 27 days ago, we rejoiced with you on the birth of your twins. Now you are gone forever. Words failed me since early this morning when heard of your demise, just like a dream. You were like a little sister to me. In our group of friends, you were the youngest and so we pampered you and watched over you like mother hen. A sweet, friendly and vivacious lady yet at times naughty but always corrected you with love. I will truly miss you and always remember the sweet memories we shared. We toured the country and even outside together in our quest for more knowledge and training in our chosen field. Adieu my friend and sister Bukola Bridget Afolabi Aroloye. Good night and may God rest your sweet soul, amen.
