* Adelakun, The Punch, Dike, The Sun get N500,000 each
Tobi Aworinde of Sunday Punch has emerged winner of the Journalist of the Year category of the 2016 Nigeria Breweries Golden Pen Award.
He will get N1m and other package for winning the award.
Sodiq Adelakun also of The Punch won the Photo Journalist of the Year award, while Gabriel Dike of Sun Newspaper bagged the Nigeria Breweries Report of the Year award.
Their cash prize award is N500,000 each.
Chairman of the award panel and former Managing Director of Daily Times, Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi commended the quality of 280 entries for the competition.
Elated editor of Sunday Punch, Toyosi Ogunseye commended Aworide who according to her “absolutely deserve the overall prize” based on the quality of his reports.
“I’m a happy editor tonight,” she said in a post on her facebook timeline.
