Staff of The Guardian Newspapers are awaiting the final verdict of the Board of Directors of the company on the recent editorial appointments in the company which were suspended.

In the recent appointments announced in a memo dated March 20, new Editor-in-Chief, Editor Daily and Weekend Editor were named along with some others.

The reorganisation by the management was said not to have been approved by the Board of directors, thus necessitating suspension pending ratification.

The Board, however, met last Monday during which the re-organisation was reportedly substantially approved but some adjustments may be made to the final list.

“The delay in the release of the official memo has to do with little adjustments in the composition of the original list… not all the ten positions may return in the list being awaited,” said a source who prefers to be anonymous.

The re-organisation followed the resignation notice by the Editor-in-Chief, Debo Adesina

“ The story is not accurate. It’s a storm in a teacup. But the true position will be published soon,” our source said.
