Outstanding writers in the country are to be honoured at the Nigerian Writers Awards scheduled to hold in Lagos on Saturday, February 6.
The award ceremony according to a statement by the orgernisers is scheduled for Terra Kulture, Tiamiyu Savage, Victoria Island.
The award considered nominations from writers who have proven their worth and commitment in writing for publications in January 2014- May 2015.
Entries were received from individuals, private sectors, civil society or government and will be rewarded based some categories.
The categories include Business writer of the year, Political writer, Entertainment writer, News writer, Feature writer, Blog writer, Health writer, Sports writer, Script writer, Song writer (RnB, Pop, Indigenous) and Poetry writer (Written, Spoken words).
Other award categories are Campus writer, Indigenous writer (Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Pidgin), Fiction writer, Non-fiction writer, Faith-based writer, Motivational writer, Romance writer, Child/teenage writer, Diaspora Writer, Young writer of the year and Writer of the year.
The award which is said to be the first-of-its-kind according to the organisers is an avenue to reward excellence, create a synergy between budding and established writers in Nigeria and brand the nation positively through the skills of writing using the media.
