Human Rights Journalists Network Nigeria (HRJN) Digital Security and Resilience Workshop.

Journalists, activists, and civil society organisations can apply for this digital security and resilience workshop organised by the Human Rights Journalists Network Nigeria (HRJN).

The digital security and resilience workshop, scheduled for July 18 and 19 in Lagos State, is a hybrid event aimed at enhancing digital rights awareness and cybersecurity practices.

This workshop will provide participants with essential knowledge and practical tools to navigate the digital landscape safely and advocate for digital rights.

Earth Journalism Network’s Virtual Media Workshop on Net Zero in Africa 2024.

Earth Journalism Network is hosting a virtual media workshop between August 20 and 22 for journalists in Africa interested in reporting on net zero.

Over the three days, the virtual media workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the net zero target, including its history, pathways to achieve it, key terminology and why it is an essential topic for every climate and environmental journalist to be covering.

Participating journalists will also have the opportunity to strengthen their thematic and technical understanding of Africa’s energy landscape, from net zero finance and policy measures to an analysis of different African nations’ energy mix.

2024 Wole Soyinka Centre Media Lecture Series.

Commemorating the 90th birthday of Africa’s Nobel Laureate and Grand Patron of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism, Professor Wole Soyinka, the 2024 WSC Media Lecture series theme: The Death of Truth? Realism, Literature and Journalism in an Age of Disinformation will hold on the 13th of July, at the Agip Recital Hall, MUSON Centre, Lagos, at 10 am.

The event will feature speakers like Professor Biodun Jeyifo of Cornell University and Harvard University, and Professor Umaru Pate of Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State giving keynote speeches.

Media and Literary experts like Kadaria Ahmed, Chidi Odinkalu, Odia Ofeimun, Chiamaka Okafor  will be on a panel discussion moderated by Ohi Alegbe and Tolulope Adeleru-Balogun.

The Scoop Storytelling Initiative’s Inclusive Storytelling Workshop

The Scoop Storytelling Initiative is hosting training for early and mid-career journalists who are passionate about reporting on minorities or underrepresented groups to learn inclusive storytelling through its hybrid workshop.
Facilitators of the inaugural Inclusive Storytelling Workshop include Zainab Bala, Saheed Ibrahim, James Kelly, Bonnie Layton, Cheryl Jackson, Steven Layton Dorcas Sheffy Bello and Usman Abba Zanna.
