Three female title editors in LEADERSHIP

LEADERSHIP

Following recent appointments at the LEADERSHIP Newspapers, the media house now has three female title editors.

They are Raliat Ahmed-Yusuf, Daily Editor, Bukola Ogunsina, Sunday Editor and Victoria Omuya Usman, Friday Editor.

Raliat

Ahmed-Yusuf, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, joined the newspaper in 2006 as a Proof Reader and later served as Foreign News Editor, Foreign Editor, Research and Development Editor, Online Editor, Deputy Editor, Weekend Editor, Sunday Editor and Deputy Editor, LEADERSHIP.

She has attended training courses in Journalism sponsored by the Union of African Journalists, Cairo, Egypt and Mentorship for Journalists at International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) sponsored by Ford Foundation.

Bukola

Ogunsina holds a Master’s degree in International Journalism from Cardiff University and has covered several international events.

Having worked in various multi-cultural and diverse environments, she has experienced many types of work settings.

She is passionate about work ethics in society and believes that a positive work attitude matters.

She advocates that people should be competent and fair when conducting their duties in the workplace and dealing with others.

Omuya now confirmed as substantive Editor of LEADERSHIP Friday was appointed Acting Editor in December 2018.

She was former Deputy Editor for Weekend edition of the publication and has worked as Correspondent, Assistant Editor and Editor on the Special Publication Desk LEADERSHIP

She joined the company in 2010 as a proofreader and has a degree in English Language from Ahmadu Hello University Zaria in addition to a diploma in Development Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi.

Kayode Falade is Editor, Weekend.

Other top management and editorial staff of the newspapers are as follows:

Muazu Elazeh, former Editor of LEADERSHIP is now Managing Director while Mr Silas Ezeugwu, former General Editor is now Editorial Director.

Elazeh attended the University of Jos and Bayero University Kano and began his journalism career with the now rested Nigerian Newsday Newspaper as Reporter II and rose to the position of Senior Reporter before joining Peoples Media Limited in October 2009 as Katsina State Correspondent.

He later joined the services of LEADERSHIP Newspaper in August 2011 and was the Katsina Bureau Chief before his appointment as Sunday Editor in 2016. He became the Editor of LEADERSHIP in March 2017, a position he held until his eventual elevation to the position of Managing Director.

The new Editorial Director, Silas Ezeugwu, is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

A former educationist, Mr Ezeugwu started his journalism profession at Media Trust Ltd in 2006 as a senior proofreader.

He joined LEADERSHIP Newspaper in 2008 as a chief sub-editor and was Deputy Editor from 2011-2014, Managing Editor (Standards) from 2015, and General Editor from 2016. He was elevated to directorate cadre earlier this year, first as Standards Director in March 2019 and Editorial Director in charge of the Weekly Titles a month later in April.

His latest appointment as Editorial Director, LEADERSHIP Group, saddles him with the task of supervising all the titles in the stable. Ezeugwu is currently the Deputy Chairman of LEADERSHIP Editorial Board.
