Ten Nigerian journalists have been selected for the second set of the Solutions Journalism Africa Fellowship Initiative supported by the Solutions Journalism Network, USA.
Nigeria Health Watch in a publication on Tuesday, April 5 announced that ten fellows will produce and publish stories of how people are responding to various social problems across Nigeria and in their communities.
They will also amplify the practice of solutions journalism through their various project ideas from advocacy visits to journalism training institutions and facilitating solutions journalism training.
The first set of fellows made up of five Nigerians and Kenyan journalists were named and inaugurated in August last 2021.
The new fellows are listed below:
Israel Olatunji Tijani is a multimedia journalist and data analyst with 5 years of experience across, mainstream print, radio, and digital outlets in Nigeria.
Umo Akwang is a journalist with experience covering gender advocacy, global health, and development.
Adam Alqali is a multiple award-winning journalist and editor of African Newspage, a digital news magazine focused on reporting Africa’s development.
Blessing Oladunjoye is a journalist and publisher of BONews Service, a platform that leverages the digital space to report about vulnerable groups.
Rasheed Ademola ADEBIYI PhD teaches PR & Advertising; News Writing and Reporting as well as Development Communication at the Department of Mass Communication, Fountain University, Osogbo.
Usman Aliyu is a Principal Correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria.
Abiodun Jamiu is a journalist based in Sokoto.
Folakemi Ajala is a freelance writer, ghostwriter, and editor.
Misbahu el-Hamza is a freelance multimedia journalist based in Kano.
Emiene Erameh is a multimedia journalist who is passionate about issues affecting women.
The Solutions Journalism Africa Initiative is training and supporting newsrooms and freelancers across Nigeria to produce stories that highlight how people are responding to various social problems.

This is a nice selection of freelancers across Africa working for solution journalism… However, I will like to know areas of focus in this area and how I can be part of this project… My interest in development communication is in the area of environmental health and climate change advocacy…
