Graphic Designer, Copy Editor and Video Editor with The Republic

The Republic is looking for the following positions:

(I) A  highly experienced (4+ years) graphic designer to join their senior editorial team.

The ideal candidate will have strong print and digital editorial design skills, distinct editorial/visual taste, as well as demonstrable experience commissioning and collaborating with freelance illustrators.

 

(ii) A highly experienced Copy Editor with at least 7 years experience.

The selected candidate will be the custodian of the outfit’s style guide and lead the fact-checking and final editing of its content.

(iii) An ambitious, media-obsessed video expert who can help us transform our long-form stories into social media-friendly videos.

 

This is a hybrid position open only to candidates based in Lagos.

Both full-time and part-time candidates can apply but should specify their availability in the application.

Social Media Manager with Reporters Without Borders/Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF)

Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF) is looking for a social media manager to collaborate with the studio manager in organizing and executing the distribution of audiovisual content across social networks and its website.

Graduates in journalism, communication or a related field, along with one to three years of proven experience in audiovisual production, graphic design, journalism or community management are invited to apply.

Editor With The Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ)

The Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) is inviting applications for the soon-to-be-vacant position of Editor.

The investigative journalism outfit is looking for an experienced investigative journalist who has had a prior stint leading a newsroom team, preferably but not necessarily at the editor level. 

The job is a full-time, on-site role in Lagos with a negotiable salary based on experience and competence.

Multimedia Journalist with Deutsche Welle (DW)

Deutsche Welle (DW) is hiring multimedia journalists who are passionate about storytelling to produce news stories and reports.

The German international media outfit is looking for multimedia journalists who will report from Abuja, Nigeria, Accra, Ghana and Nairobi, Kenya based on a freelance contract limited to two years.

Applicants must have completed university studies in the field of journalism and have relevant professional experience in multimedia broadcasting and editorial operation in the areas of social media, web video and mobile reporting as well as in online journalism.

Interested multimedia journalists must have an extensive knowledge of current political, economic, social and cultural conditions in Africa.

the ideal candidate would be a self-starter with loads of story ideas and enthusiasm. He/she should be able to produce different kinds of content working independently, but can also count on support from the team if editorial setbacks arise.

Media trainer with Code for Africa (CfA)

Code for Africa (CfA) has an immediate remote vacancy for a full-time media trainer, with a deep understanding of print, digital and broadcast media.

The ideal candidates will have demonstrable experience investigating information manipulation using OSINT tools as well as recent experience in running and implementing training programmes and other capacity building initiatives.

The primary responsibility of the role is to equip media professionals (journalists, newsroom managers, editors etc), social media influencers, researchers, activists and students across Africa with relevant skills.

Applicants must have two plus years of experience working in the media industry, proven proficiency with fact-checking, investigative journalism, data journalism or other methodologies that combine technology and media, at least three years of experience as a media trainer/educator, or a related position.

The media trainer must have a relevant degree in journalism, communication or media studies, and must understand English and French.
