I woke up this morning to the sad news that Imam Imam, consummate journalist and spokesman of the governor of Sokoto state is dead. He died last night in Abuja. It’s terrible. We spoke last week. He was joking that if he was still at This day he would have regularly been on Journalists Hangout, a programme he describes as the best in the country. We sometimes shared ideas about developments in his home state, Taraba. This is really really sad. For the rest of us, let’s live everyday like we’ll die the next minute. We don’t know when it would be our turn. Goodnight, friend

May Allah be pleased with your soul, Imam Imam.
We live in the same vicinity. Our kids attend same school. But most times we only meet when we come to pick our kids from school, anytime we are in Abuja together. However, about a month ago or so, from Lagos we flew together to Abuja. That was when he told me about his ambition to run for the House of Reps. Just a week ago, we were on phone again discussing political developments in Sokoto and Nigeria, especially concerning his Principal’s next move. And today he is gone. This life…

Imam Imam my friend. Can’t believe your journey here just ended. Just like a dream. Sad enough, it is a reality. You were a man of many parts. Brillance. Loving. Caring. Humble. Professional to the core. One of the best spokesmen around. I’m still planning to mobilize support for your House of Representatives’ ambition. May be in another world. Or when we meet again.
Imam called me My Chairman. Who does that? Definitely not you again Imam. I won’t forget you. We won’t forget you. You meant so much to us. Good night my friend Imam Dalhatu Imam.
Your Chairman

I woke up to receive a rude shock this morning on the sudden death of a beloved journalist-colleague, PR professional and Government Spokesman, Mallam Imam Imam.
Until his death, he was the Spokesman of Governor Aminu Tambuwal, incumbent Governor of Sokoto state. He has served with his principal right from his days as Speaker of House of Representatives (2011 – 2015).
During the 2015 General Election, I spent much of my time reporting from Sokoto state and Imam was very instrumental in helping me to interview contending politicians and government sources to balance my news stories.
A thorough-bred professional, he had earlier been planning to join the political league in 2019 to contest for a seat into the House of Representatives in his native Taraba state but unfortunately the cold hands of death have snatched away our dear colleague.
My condolences to His Excellency Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, his family especially the new addition who are yet to experience the full taste of their gentleman father, husband and astute media professional.
Adieu Imam!

IMAM IMAM, WHY???
So sad to hear you just left this sinful world; Mr. Imam Imam.
Although we were not close, but the few times we spoke left me with the memories of a young, professional and passionate journalist doing what he knows best.
You were very decorous and firm at the same time.
Too painful that you left at the same time you thought it ripe to offer yourself in service to your good people in Taraba, while also serving as spokesman to the equally cerebral Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in Sokoto state.
My heart bleeds receiving the news of your demise from my friend and partner, George Onmonya Daniel this morning.
Adieu, great soul! May the Lord grant your family the gratitude to bear this very depressing loss
Idowu Sowunmi
What a sad Friday!
I couldn’t just process the news! How? Why? What? These were only exclamations and trajectory remarks I could remember to describe the shocking news of the sudden death of Imam Dalhatu Imam, the Spokesman for Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal.
I remember our good old days in THISDAY and we indeed maintained our cordial relationship and friendship even when you left the newsroom to take up an appointment as the spokesman for the then Hon. Tambuwal as the Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2011.
We recently had a fruitful conversation and you even linked me up with the spokesman for the Kano State governor. I didn’t know that would be our last conversation.
You indicated your interest to contest and represent your Gassol/Bali Federal Constituency in Taraba State at the National Assembly.
Just one month ago, you celebrated the birth of a bouncing baby boy into your family.
Alas! You have gone too soon to nurture your dreams of becoming a member of the House of Representatives and to fathering your son.
What a world!
My heart bleeds.
You’re such a wonderful friend, colleague and confidant.
May God forgive your sins. May the Lord grant your family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Amen.
Good night, Imam Imam.
