African Foundation for Peace and Love Initiatives (AFPLI) has concluded plans to stage the eighth edition of Peace Media Parley (PMP) holding on Monday, 5th of December 2016 at the International Press Centre, Ogba, Lagos State.
The programme tagged Picture Africa for peace and development 2.0 with special focus on Sustainable Development Goals will bring together photojournalists, cartoonist and development journalists which will be interactive, insightful and engaging.
In a statement signed by the founding President of AFPLI, Rev Titus Oyeyemi said that the parley is poised toward empowering development journalists, especially cartoonist and photojournalist to become a voice within their media industry for sustainable peace in Nigeria.
He said Peace Media Parley is an advocacy programme aimed at engaging media practitioners to create the access to spread peace, love, equity and restorative justice which are the hallmarks of proactive grassroots peace and nation building for ethno-religious and ethno-political harmony in Nigeria.
“The programme will bring together media practitioners, particularly cartoonists and photojournalists from across the country which promises to be interactive, educative and insightful as renown resource persons in the media industry, artists, and civil society groups will be on ground to share perspectives and recipe for the promotion of a safe and peaceful society”, he said.
He recalled that the first phase of the programme was held on December 31, 2015 and our organization has been working with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Nigeria since 2006 and accredited by the United Nations Department of Information since April 2011.
