The 33rd edition of the Diamond Award for Media Excellence (DAME) was held on Saturday, November 30 2024 and journalists and media organisations were awarded for their brilliant journalism work. With various media teams shining more than their counterpart.
There were 17 main categories of the award being contested for by journalists and their media organisations as well as the lifetime award and fellowship conferment on distinguished media experts.
Below is a full list of all winners and runners-up of the 33rd edition of the Diamond Award for Media Excellence.
FULL LIST OF AWARD
Taiwo Adebulu of The Cable Newspaper won the Education Reporting category as Mohammed Dahiru Lawal of Daily Nigerian and Sodiq Ojuroungbe of The Punch Newspaper emerged the first and second runners-up of the category.
Eno-Abasi Asuquo Sunday of The Guardian Newspaper was declared the winner of the Health Reporting category while Sodiq Ojuroungbe of Punch who had two nominations was declared the first and second runners-up.
Henry Ojelu of Vanguard Newspaper emerged winner of the Judicial Reporting Category of the award while Lukman Abolade and Tunde Ajaja of of Punch Newspaper were the first and second runners-up of the category.
In the News Photography category, Saheed Olugbon of Punch Newspaper was declared the winner and first runner-up of the category with his two nominations, while Olalekan Salau of Vanguard Newspaper was the second runner-up.
Innocent Duru of The Nation Newspaper won the Child-friendly reporting category, while Dare Akogun of DA News, with his report on International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), was first runner-up, with Jide Babalola of The Nation emerging as the second runner-up.
Ibrahim Adeyemi of Premium Times was the winner of the Lagos reporting category, while Johnson Idowu of Punch was the first runner-up and Awosiyan Olakunle of EchoNews was the second runner-up.

The Niger Delta Development Reporting category was won by Arinze Chijioke of Prime Progress while Emmanuel Onwuka of ParallelTV News emerged as the second runner-up.
Justice Nwafor of Tribune Newspaper won the Solid Minerals Reporting, while Dare Akogun of DA News and Chikodi Anthony were first and second runner ups respectively.
Child-friendly photography category was won by Olukayode Jaiyeola of The Punch while Elliot Ovadje of Punch and Temitope Aina of The Sun were first and second runners-ups respectively.
The Sport Reporting Category was won by Christian Okpara of The Guardian Newspaper who also doubled as the first runner-up as he had two nominations while Taiwo Alimi of The Nation was the second runner-up.
Kingsley Jeremiah of The Guardian was declared the winner of the Energy Reporting category, while Samuel Ajala of Premium Times and Shola O’Neil of The Nation were the first and the second runner ups respectively.
The Television reporting category, which was dominated by nominations from Arise News, was won by Nkechi Nnanna, while Adetokunbo Oyetunji was the first runner-up and Ovieteme George was the second runner-up.
The Punch Newspaper won the Newspaper of the Year category while the Nation and The Guardian Newspapers emerged first and second runners-up
The Best Designed Newspaper was won by Daily Trust, with Daily Sun emerging as the first runner-up while Leadership Newspaper was the second runner-up.
The Editorial writing category was won by The Nation Newspaper and Lasisi Olagunju won the Informed commentary category with Azu Ishiekwene who had two nominations declared first and second runner-ups.
Former Editor of The PUNCH Newspaper Dayo Oketola was named Editor of the Year while Niyi Adesina of The Nation and Femi Adekoya of The Guardian were named first and second runners-up, respectively, in the category.
As part of the Award activities for the night two senior journalists, the Publisher of Business Day, Mr Frank Aigbogun was awarded the DAME Lifetime Achievement Award while Mr Kunle Ajibade was conferred the DAME honourary fellowship award.
