CJA winner urges campus journalists to be committed

Winner of the Campus Journalist of the Year at the prestigious Youth Digest Campus Journalism Awards (CJA) Shereefdeen Ahamad has urged campus journalists to stay committed to their craft.

Ahamad, a 500-level law student and the president of the National Association of Campus Journalists (NACJ), Usmanu Danfodiyo University chapter gave the advice while speaking on winning the CJA held on December 7, 2024, at Cosmopolitan University, Abuja.

“What is worth doing is worth doing well. Keep trying, and your hard work will pay off,” he advised.

“I’m a living example that dedication and perseverance can open doors.”

Ahamad also won the Sports Writer of the Year category of the award and was a finalist in the Gender Equality Writer category.

While expressing his joy and gratitude for the recognition, he said the award is a testament to hard work, consistency, and passion.

This year’s edition of the awards, the sixth in its series, received over 350 entries from more than 50 universities across Nigeria. Thirty six finalists were shortlisted, with 12 winners emerging across various categories.

The Youth Digest Campus Journalism Awards is an annual event aimed at recognizing and celebrating outstanding contributions by young journalists in Nigerian universities.
