Amidst rising agitations for institutional reforms and demand for good governance by young Nigerians, a new book that gives an insight into the mind of the average Nigerian youth is set for launch on Thursday, October 29, 2020.
The book, titled ‘Lazy’ Nigerian Youth and the Table Shakers’, was written by a new author Funto Babawale,  daughter of Prof. Tunde Babawale, a former director-general of the Center for Black African Arts and Culture (CBAAC).
Prof Babawale will be leading other eminent Nigerians to the multipurpose hall of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Lagos, venue of the book launch.
The book and its timely topic has come at a particular time where it is important to listen to the voice of the youths. The book not only tackles present issues but issues that have plagued Nigeria in the past, present, how we got here and possible solutions.
The informal tone of the book also makes it endearing and easy to read, it is like having a conversation with the author
The book was reviewed by Dr Jide Johnson, a former Deputy Provost of NIJ, while the Executive Director of Media Career Development Network, Lekan Otufodunrin wrote the foreword. The Global Head HR & Admin, Amni Intl Petroleum Development Co. Ltd, Bayo Dahunsi, is the Chief Presenter
Also expected at the book launch are former Manager Mobil Nigeria Plc., Akin Fatunke,  CEO of Avolad Nigeria Ltd and Mountroyal Centre, Engr. Adebayo Oluyamo, and the MD/CEO, Edutrust Consult Ltd, Femi Obisesan.
According to the author, “the purpose of the book is to bridge the gap between the older and younger generation so as to forge a lasting collaboration to move the nation forward.”
Babawale said the book also seeks to give some insights into the mind of the average Nigerian youth and change the perception of the Nigerian youth and take back the narrative that the current generation is ‘lazy’.
“Current issues across the country and all over the world will be tackled and talked about at the book launch. Despite the book’s strong political stance, guests for the event will come from across political divides to launch the book,” she added.
