AMDF’s award winner advises young journalists

A graduate of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, (UDUS), Abdulrasheed Hammad who recently won the Journalists of the Year, Online category  at the African Media Development Foundation Awards (AMDF) 2024 has advised aspiring journalists to be sincere and consistent in their editorial work.
Reacting to winning the award in an interview, Hammad said spiring journalists should be consistent, dedicated, write impactful stories, apply for opportunities and should not relent in doing their various assignments.
Hammad said he was surprised  winning the award, as he had applied for many awards  that he was not shortlisted to be among the finalists
He however appreciated the media organization that funded his winning investigation story and the organisers of the Award.
The AMDF Awards organized by African Center For Journalism and Development in Kaduna on December 7 is to motivate and celebrate the journalists in Africa on their responsibilities to promote the continent. Categories of the awards includes outstanding journalists on Photo, Print, Online and Television.
Hammad, a freelancer journalist won the online category with the story funded by the  Cable newspaper titled “INVESTIGATION: Inside Sokoto factories producing contaminated sachet water”
The first runner up for the category was Arinze Chizioke  from Ripples Nigeria and Kei Duku from  One Citizen from South Sudan.
