Akpabio urges journalists to report positive news

Nigerian journalists have been asked to report positive news items to change the negative perception  of the country.

Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State made the call Saturday when the Managing Director of The Telegraph  newspapers, Mr. Bolaji Tunji and his management team paid him a courtesy visit at Governor’s Office, Uyo.

“Let’s us change the perception of negative rumors and report genuine news for the good of the nation, ” Akpabio stated

He paid glowing tributes to a one-time Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzo Kalu who is also the founder of “The SUN” and  now  The Telegraph  newspapers, stating that just as the SUN newspapers is widely read in the country, the new  newspaper would also be successful.

The Governor assured that the state government would give the new publication  the necessary support and also approve a land for the building of their Regional Office in the state.

Speaking earlier, the Managing director of the Telegraph newspaper, Mr. Tunji  said he and his team were  in the state for aretreat due to the impressive uncommon transformation seen in the state.

He explained that the new newspaper is targeted at the middle class of the society and get the sanity of truth from the public.

According to the Managing Director, truth is the focus of the newspaper and that wish to transform the country just like how Akwa Ibom state has been transformed.
