Aisha Wakaso, the organiser of the Aisha Wakaso Prize for Young Female Journalists is the Special Adviser, Print Media to the Niger State Governor.
An accomplished communications professional, Aisha has more than 16 years of experience in journalism and public relations. She is renowned as a skilled media strategist and a fervent advocate for women’s rights, girls’ empowerment, and mental health awareness.
Aisha’s academic journey underscores her devotion to learning and professional advancement. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy Administration from Bayero University Kano, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Calabar, a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and English from Bayero University Kano.
Her educational achievements are complemented by a range of certificates: Basic Television Broadcasting from NTA Television College, Managing the Media in Crisis Situations from Pan-African University Lagos, Speech Writing from Pan-African University Lagos, and Media Relations from the London School of Communication in Dubai.

Aisha has left an indelible mark throughout her career in both private and public sectors, contributing significantly to diverse organizations. Her professional journey includes roles with Olusola Adekanla & Co, Niger State Board of Internal Revenue, ThisDay Newspaper, Umar Nasko Campaign Organization, and as Press Secretary to the wife of the Niger State Governor. She also served as the Communications Officer for the RAiSE Foundation. She is a media consultant at 1206 Media.
Beyond her organizational work, Aisha is an active blogger and content creator, operating her platform, Aisha Wakaso Blog, since September 2016.
Her remarkable background, extensive experience, and unwavering dedication have established Aisha as a respected figure in the communications realm. Her strong communication abilities, strategic acumen, and commitment to social causes constitute her core strengths.
She is an advocate for the rights of women and girls and a mental health awareness advocate, she has organized various activities to improve the living standards of women and girls. Some of these include menstrual hygiene education and the distribution of free pads to over 500 schoolgirls in Minna. She has also taught for free at the Government Secondary School Minna.
Aisha is pursuing a PhD in Public Governance and Leadership at the University of Abuja.
