The website of the African Women in Media (AWiM) was has been launched.
Founder of the group Dr Yemisi Akinbobola announced the launch on Monday, August 10, 2018
” Over the last couple of months I have been working with my team @flakey_phil and Bamidele Ogunleye to bring you the @africanwomeninthemedia website. This is just the beginning but I am happy to officially launch the website today,” she stated in a message.

African Women in the Media was founded as a Facebook group in 2016, by award-winning journalist, academic and media entrepreneur, Dr Yemisi Akinbobola and, gender and development expert, Ms. Bamidele Ogunleye.

It is a group for African women working in the media, anywhere in the world, who want to impact positively the way the media functions in relation to women. The aim of the group is to develop a network that inspires, supports and empowers its members.

Our member body is made up of African women in diverse media backgrounds from factual content (journalism, photography, documentary filmmaking etc.), to fictional content (film, music, literature etc.), and marketing and communications.
