Dr. Wole Akinyemi Olarinde is a journalist, Christian media practitioner, author and ministry leader whose professional journey has been shaped by a commitment to Christian journalism, missionary advancement, media advocacy and the restoration of the Church to its original purpose.
Since establishing Christian Benefits Magazine in January 2000, he has progressively expanded its vision into several initiatives covering Christian publishing, missionary recognition, television, media consultancy, child-protection advocacy, ministry and literature.
Christian Journalism and the Christian Benefits Journey
A graduate of Mass Communication from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Olarinde chose Broadcasting as his area of specialisation. Ironically, however, upon graduation, he launched his professional career in print journalism rather than broadcast journalism, his academic major.
Olarinde began his journalism career at The Guardian newspaper and subsequently worked with Media Review magazine, where he last practised as a secular journalist before launching into Christian journalism with the birth of Christian Benefits Magazine on January 29, 2000.
Earlier in his career, he had also freelanced for Third Eye in Ibadan, The Tide newspaper and Sunray Newspaper in Port Harcourt. He also worked with Poise Magazine, published under the stable of Daily Times Nigeria PLC. These experiences contributed to his professional development before he embraced the vision of establishing an independent Christian media platform.
Christian Benefits Magazine is an interdenominational Christian publication committed to informing, inspiring and celebrating God’s work across denominations.
Its mission has remained: “Spreading the benefits in accepting Jesus Christ and propagating the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the salvation of Mankind.”
Over the years, Christian Benefits has evolved beyond a conventional magazine into a broader media and ministry platform. Its development has required considerable personal sacrifice, including Olarinde’s decision to sell his only car to facilitate the publication’s transition from black-and-white production to full-process colour printing.
As Christian Benefits marked its 26th anniversary in 2026, its journey reflected more than two decades of sustained commitment to Christian journalism and the promotion of the Gospel.
Initiatives Under the Christian Benefits Platform.
Since establishing Christian Benefits Magazine, Olarinde has developed a range of initiatives reflecting his commitment to Christian journalism, missionary advancement, media development, advocacy and the Church.
1.Iwe Irohin Anfaani Kriestieni: The Yoruba-language expression of the Christian Benefits publishing vision, extending its reach to Yoruba-speaking audiences.
2.Christian Benefits Missionary Foundation (CBMF): A missionary-focused initiative associated with the Christian Benefits platform.
3 Benefits Awards for Missionary Excellence (BAME): Established in 2004, BAME recognises excellence in Christian service, missions and related fields. Its categories include Christian Service, Christian Mission and Humanitarian Service, Christian Music, Christian Drama, Christian Literature, Christian Entrepreneurship and Gospel Legend. Since its establishment, the awards have recognised more than 100 recipients.
4.Christian Benefits Television (CBTV): The television arm of the Christian Benefits media vision, reflecting the expansion of the platform beyond print publishing.
5.Association of Publishers of Christian Magazines and Newspapers (APCMAN): An initiative focused on Christian publishing and collaboration among publishers of Christian magazines and newspapers.
6.Christian Benefits Media Consultancy Services: A professional media consultancy initiative through which Olarinde applies his experience in journalism and media relations to support clients in engaging media organisations.
7.Campaign Against Paedophilia Africa (CAPA): An advocacy initiative introduced to the public in 2025, focusing on raising awareness about paedophilia, promoting child protection and encouraging action against child sexual abuse.
8.Heal the Church Outreach (HECO) Ministry: Conceived in 2021 and developed through a five-year period of incubation, HECO is the evangelical arm of Christian Benefits Media Ministry. It is an intercessory and reconciliatory outreach with a burden to see the Church restored to its original purpose. Its tagline is “Restoring the Original Purpose of the Church.” Its focus includes sound doctrine, holiness, genuine repentance, prayer, reconciliation and unity within the Body of Christ.
Together, these initiatives demonstrate the expansion of Olarinde’s vision from Christian magazine publishing into missionary engagement, awards, television, professional media services, advocacy and evangelical ministry.
Literary Contributions
Olarinde has also used writing as a means of communicating ideas, documenting experiences and addressing issues relating to faith and society. His literary contributions include four books and one unpublished manuscript.
1.Otunba Jesu: The Story of the Conflicts in Heaven — First Book: Originally published in 2002, this work forms part of his early literary contribution.
2.The Confessions of Born Again Prostitutes — Second Book: A work addressing experiences and issues connected with conversion and the Christian faith.
3.The Rehab’s Cord — Third Book: Another of his authored works, forming part of his literary engagement with faith and personal transformation.
4.My Dossier: A Celebration of 20 Years in Christian Journalism: A reflective publication documenting his journey and experience in Christian journalism.
5.How the Church Conquered COVID-19 — Unpublished Book: Subtitled A Compilation of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Supports and Initiatives of Some Selected Nigerian Churches to the Masses During COVID-19 Lockdown in 2020, this unpublished manuscript documents the social responsibility interventions and support provided by selected Nigerian churches to members of the public during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. It highlights the role of the Church in responding to societal needs during a period of unprecedented public-health challenges.
Through these works, Olarinde has extended his contribution beyond news reporting and magazine publishing into authorship, Christian reflection, social documentation and the preservation of experiences that illuminate the Church’s engagement with society.
Leadership, Professionalism and Public Engagement
Beyond his work in Christian media, Olarinde has participated in alumni leadership and professional engagement. He served as National President of the Okota Secondary School Old Students Association (OSSOSA), completing his tenure in September 2026. He had earlier served as President of the association’s Pioneer/1987 Set.
He also currently serves as President of The Polytechnic Ibadan Association of Mass Communication Class of 1997 (ASCOM ’97).
His professional experience includes media consultancy, where he serves as a liaison between clients and media organisations. His background in journalism and broadcasting has informed his approach to Christian-interest journalism, which he regards as the practice of conventional journalistic principles within a Christian-values framework.
A Continuing Commitment to Purpose
From Christian Benefits Magazine to its associated initiatives and literary works, Olarinde’s journey reflects a continuing effort to use media, advocacy, literature and ministry to serve the Church and society.
The initiatives developed under the Christian Benefits platform represent different expressions of one broad vision: communicating the Gospel, supporting missionary work, recognising Christian excellence, encouraging responsible Christian publishing, protecting children and contributing to the spiritual restoration of the Church.
As the platform continues to evolve, Olarinde’s work remains rooted in the mission that inspired the establishment of Christian Benefits in January 2000: spreading the benefits of accepting Jesus Christ and propagating the Gospel for the salvation of mankind.
