The 5th Women in Journalism Africa Conference (WiJAfrica) is scheduled to hold on October 5, 2019 at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Nigeria.
The theme of this year’s conference is Action Journalism: Women on the frontlines.
“Specifically, we are looking at supporting and highlighting the hard work of African journalists who are working in conflict areas, often under very difficult and dangerous circumstances.
“Our colleagues working in the North-Eastern parts of Nigeria and other African countries that have seen some conflict or natural disasters, have stories to tell,” the organisers said in a statement.
Confirmed speakers include Anna Cunningham, a London-based award-winning journalist whose most recent assignment was a four-year stint in Nigeria, Mayeni Jones a multilingual, multimedia journalist, currently working as the BBC’s Nigeria Correspondent, Olusola Momoh , Vice Chairman of one of Nigeria’s foremost news channels, Channels TV and Nelly Ating , a freelance Journalist and Photojournalist reporting from the front lines of Boko Haram in Northeast Nigeria.
