Nigerian digital influencer, Mr. David Imoh, popularly known as Davvyd Moore, has encouraged youths to leverage social media for the success of their career and business.
Imoh, a Microbiology student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), in an interview with the Director, Efico Resources, Mr. David Adefunmilayo, urged the youth to go through the rigour of building their brand online for the purpose of making a career out of it or for their own personal business.
The interview moderated by the Marketing Manager, Ms. Goodness Nwadibie, held on Twitter and was tagged “Leveraging the Social Media for your Career Success”.
Imoh, who is also a singer, songwriter and dancer, explained that he runs advertisements for organisations, promotes and builds brands using just social media.
He revealed how he has been leveraging Twitter to make ends meet since the COVID-19 outbreak.
The influencer with more than 190,000 followers on Twitter said: “Since the lockdown, we haven’t really been working. So I’ve been depending on Twitter and leveraging on it as much as I can.
“If you really want to leverage social media, you have to be offering something. Show people what you do.
“But there are still a lot of people that feel it’s stressful trying to build your brand on Twitter. I really want the youth of nowadays to take social media seriously. Not just for entertainment, but for their business and career.”
He also opined that “Twitter is filled with credible users than other platforms. Most of the sources of trends come from Twitter. It’s because of the fact that Twitter is full of active people with lots of engagements. If you’re not real, you’ll be exposed. It has genuine engagements.”
Efico Resources, according to Adefunmilayo, avails the youth with useful tools that make them employable or enterprising; leveraging and maximising their innate abilities for personal development and the society at large.
The Director said: “We help them realize their innate abilities for proper utilization and help them follow through by connecting what is being taught in the academia to that which is in practice, and expose them to scholarship and internship opportunities as a by-product.
“I started Efico Resources during 400 level in the University of Lagos and it was because I saw the wide gap between what is taught in the university and what is obtainable outside the academic community. The observation got me ready to eradicate the ‘school is a scam’ mentality, popularly held by undergraduates and graduates in the African space.
“We are reachable across all social media and our website: www.eficoresource.com.”
Twitter users followed the interview with the hashtag #CareerLeverage.
