The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Abuja needs a full-time member of staff in the field of communications for an immediate one-year fixed-term renewable contract.
Applications are welcome from team-players who are passionate about working in an international setting and supporting the team in social media communication tasks.
Main Responsibilities include:
*Active communication in social networks with a focus on the topic of migration;
*Monitoring and review of discourses in social media;
*Writing of brief analytical reports in English;
*Cooperation and coordination with colleagues at other German Missions as well as in Berlin and supporting the Embassy`s social media channels.

Required experience and qualifications are:
*University degree (Bachelor or equal), preferably in the fields of media/communications, journalism, political science or related fields;
*Very good knowledge of the behavioural dynamics of social media communication as well as practical skills concerning the placement of target-group specific messages in variable cultural contexts (professional experience in these fields is of advantage);
*Interest in the topic of migration. Past professional or personal experience in the field is an asset;
*Excellent research skills as well as the capacity to quickly prioritize and edit information;
*Sound understanding of politics and international relations, especially concerning questions of forced displacement and migration
*Ability to communicate in a clear, interesting and politically-sensitive manner
*Excellent command of English (orally and in writing)
*Language skills in various languages and/or dialects spoken in Nigeria is of advantage
*Knowledge of the German language and/or interest in learning German is of advantage
*Good command of common computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel)
*Team spirit and ability to work in a team spread across different countries
*High level of personal initiative, dedication and stress resistance
*Willingness to undertake occasional business trips
*Strong organizational skills, diligence and flexibility
Conditions are stipulated by the draft contract used for the Embassy’s locally employed staff. A competitive salary is offered. Applicants who are not Nigerian citizens must present a valid residence and working permit upon signature latest. A security check is required.
