Vacancy: Media & Advocacy Specialist
UNICEF Nigeria seeks the services of an experienced Media and Advocacy Specialist who will under the overall guidance of the Chief of Polio Communications be accountable for the development, design, planning, implementation and management of a proactive media engagement strategy for polio eradication with the Nigeria programme and linked to the National Social Mobilization Working group priorities.
The appointment which is temporary for a year will be based in Abuja.
The specialist will take leadership in the proactive engagement of national, state, local and regional media to build awareness and encourage buy in from risk audiences, key opinion leaders and policy makers; ensure packaging and distribution of culturally relevant targeted media messages to improve and strengthen education and understanding.
The required qualification and competencies are advanced university degree in Communication, Journalism and Public Relations. First degree plus at least 12 years of demonstrated professional experiences in the field of journalism, communication, external relations, public affairs, public relations or corporate communications may be considered.
Eight years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communications, print, broadcast and/or new media. Field work experience and familiarity with Emergency situations is an asset.
