With a pop culture orientation,’ News of the World’, a new newspaper is set to join the league of newspapers jostling for space in the print media market.
The soon-to-be-published newspaper promises to adopt ‘human angle slants and flourishes’ reporting style.
The brains behind the project are two returnees from abroad: Ekerete Udoh and Prince Chidi Ibe from New York, USA and England respectively.
According to Udoh in his regular column on ThisDay, News of the World ”will hold our elected officials feet to the fire if they are seen to have sacrificed the people’s trust and aspirations.”
”It will be different, daring, brash, yet endearing, exciting yet hard hitting and it will have columns and features that will certainly be addictive.”
Udoh started his journalism career 25 years ago with a brief stint at Sunday Times writing a human interest column. He later moved to Sunday Concord where he contributed to the paper becoming the largest selling newspaper in Nigeria during the period.
