A 300-Level student of Law of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) Abdulrasheed Hammad has emerged as the new Editor-in-chief of Pen Press Club of the institution.
The appointment was announced by the former Editor-in-chief of the press board, Uchenna Emelife during the Pen Press 2020 day held on Sunday, 25th July 2021.
Hammad is a campus reporter with The Nation Nigeria, Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism (Campus Reporter PTCIJ), and International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR).
He is also an intern with Media Career Development Network, African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) Fellows 2020, Dataphyte Campus Ambassador, and Freelance Journalist with HumAngle.
The newly appointed EIC expressed his utmost joy on his appointment noting that it was a surprise which he didn’t expect.
“I feel so elated, being announced as the new Editor-in-chief of the most outstanding press board on UDUS campus, Pen Press UDUS. I believe it is neither my power nor my strength, but the will of Almighty Allah.”
“Even though I was not expecting it, I had no thought that I would become the EIC soon, but the responsibility has been saddled on me and I wish to perform my duty effectively,” he stated.
He, however, sought the maximum cooperation of his fellow principal officials and members in sustaining the high reputation of the board, and the advice and mentorship from the Alumni of the board.
“I am using this medium to seek maximum co-operation from my fellow Principal Officials so that we can take Pen to a greater height. Without you, there is nothing like EIC, and I want us to work collectively to achieve our aim and objectives. Pen Press is the best and it will remain the best,” he stated..
