Mental Health Website launched

A new website focused on mental health issues – www.africavoiceshq.com has been launched.

The platform created by the duo of Tony Ademiluyi, a freelance journalist whose work has appeared in the Vanguard, Guardian, Independent, Nation, Punch, Sahara Reporters, Daily Post, Nigeria Voice, Chronicles and The Africa Report and Chibuzo Emelogu a Lagos based Dub Poet plans to change the narrative on mental issues by focusing on the ailment to reduce stigmatization.

It is also meant to attract more compassion and love from all with a focus on Africans both resident in the continent and Diaspora.

The issue of mental health according to the management of the platform is still taboo in Nigeria and Africa as many of the patients suffer a high level of stigmatization and discrimination in their day to day lives.

“The House of Representatives earlier this year said that about twenty million Nigerians suffer from one form of mental health disorder. The population is extremely huge and so why is this ailment still discussed in hushed tones?m ” Ademiluyi stated.
