The International Symposium on Online Journalism will for the first time in its 21-year history, not hold its traditional in-person conference. ISOJ Online will be held July 20 to 24, 2020 on Zoom and you can still register to participate.

Amnesty International Nigeria will host a virtual meeting with journalists.
The event will discuss the theme; Mainstreaming Human Rights in Journalism in Nigeria.
Amnesty International is the world’s largest human rights organization. Amnesty has created a worldwide movement with a mission to prevent and stop grave violations of human rights, like the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom on conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination.

Entries for the seventh edition of the African Fact-Checking Awards will close today.
It is the only award programme that honours journalism by Africa-based media in the expanding field of fact-checking.
In 2019, the organisers received a total of 153 entries from more than 20 countries – from Ethiopia, Nigeria and Senegal to Egypt, South Africa and Zimbabwe. In the inaugural year, 2014, we received entries from about 40 journalists across 10 countries.”
“Entries must have been first published or broadcast on any date from 1 August 2019 to 22 July 2020. They should have exposed a claim on an important topic made by a public figure or institution in Africa as misleading or wrong.
The winner of the award for a best fact-checking report by a working journalist will get a prize of $3,000, while the runner-up will be awarded $1,500. The winner of the award for a best fact-checking report by a student journalist will get a prize of $2,000, and the runner-up $1,000.”
