The Media Career Development Network, (MCDN), Nigeria has launched a collaborative Internship Exchange Programme for student journalists to gain multimedia experience across media organizations.

The programme was launched on Tuesday in Lagos in collaboration with Wisdom Gate Radio, (wigradio.com) Lagos and New Dawn Nigeria ( NewDawngr.com) with interns from various universities and polytechnics across the country in attendance.

Executive Director of MCDN, Mr. Lekan Otufodunrin explained that the initiative is to enable interns in the collaborating media organizations to access skills and resources beyond where they are on internship.

According to Otufodunrin, under the programme, there will be joint training schedules, visits and mutual learning opportunities for the interns.

“Considering limited opportunities for interns to get placements in media organizations of their choice and learn as much as they desire, our goal is to provide them valuable experience across all sectors of the media,” Otufodunrin explained.

He said the students will also be able to publish and broadcast their content on the platforms of the collaborating organizations.

The CEO of Wig Radio, Mr. Olawale Perfect and Publisher of NewDawn, Mr. Tunde Abatan commended the exchange programme and promised to ensure its success with the participation of interns in their organizations.

Center Manager of MCDN, Mr. Dayo Emmanuel said the organization is committed to ensuring the career development of all categories of journalists, Mass Communication students.
