Accidental Journalist In Nigeria’s Political and Economic History, a book by veteran journalist, Cordelia (Nwulu) Ukwoma is to be launched on July 28 in Abuja.
The event will hold at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Near International Conference Centre by 2 pm.
The book is an autobiography which captures Ukwuoma’s life and 35 years of sojourn in journalism which she initially was unprepared for, but turned out to be a passion for her.
Her role in the coverage of the aborted June 12 election of the 3rd Republic, the banking reforms and consolidation of the Obasanjo regime, and the Paris Club Debt Relief negotiation coverage of which she was the only TV journalist at the event is contained in the book.
What the former Vice President and presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar told journalists about former President Olusegun Obasanjo a few weeks before his release from prison and how he was eventually drafted into the PDP as the presidential candidate upon his freedom are captured in this enthralling read.
A seasoned and accomplished Journalist, Ukwuoma is a News Producer with a passion for documentary production with 35 years’ experience reporting virtually all the beats including Sports and Judiciary.

She headed various desks in the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) News and was in charge of Network News in Benin Network Centre, Portharcourt and Lagos Network Centres at different times. Her vast experience in the field of journalism has taken her all over the world attending and covering Conferences, workshops and Seminars.
She worked side by side with former National Electoral Commission NEC Chairman, Prof Humphrey Nwosu in his assignment to midwife the aborted 3rd Republic that resulted in the June 12 debacle from 1992 to 1993.
She has covered the United Nations General Assembly ( UNGA), The Spring and Annual General Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund ( IMF), the African Development Bank , meetings of African Ministers of Finance as well as the annual Oil and Gas Conference of Oil producing nations in Houston Texas not to mention countless Conferences and meetings of Heads of Government of ECOWAS as well as several mediation and security efforts between ECOWAS leaders and the UN towards enduring peace in the West African sub-region during her stint as NTA’s West Africa Bureau Chief based in Accra, Ghana.
Ukwuoma was in the Nigerian Delegation to Paris, France and made history as the only TV journalist that covered Nigeria’s Negotiation of Debt Relief from the Paris Club of creditors in October 2005.
A free spirit and a humanitarian, she is a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club International, was once the Secretary of Lions Club and a member of various associations.
Cordelia is a Fellow Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Fellow, Nigeria Institute of Credit Administrators and a member of the Institute of Management Consultants.
