GTBank, Omololu Foundation hold forum for young journalists

Towards enhancing the proficiency, works skills and providing insights to broaden the sphere of media career for young journalists, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), in partnership support with the Omololu Falobi Foundation   will hold a one-day interactive, skills development and experience sharing seminar.

Ttagged ‘Expanding the media frontiers for young Journalists’, the programme holds at International Press Centre, Dideolu Estate, By Sweet Sensation, Off Ijaiye road, Ogba, Lagos, on Thursday April 11, 2012 by 9.00am.

 Organized with technical assistance of Innate Communications, the seminar aims to contribute to the development of the media in Nigeria by growing the proficiency of young journalists and providing a platform for mentorship, inspirational success stories on best practices, new career trends, and impartation of knowledge of skills needed to foster national development.

 The seminar shall also provide a forum for emerging young media practitioners to interact and exchange views with seasoned media professionals on top issues facing them in areas such as work / life balance, generational media issues (including upper management not sharing knowledge with the younger generation), update on new technology and media trends, maximising media opportunities, as well as an experience sharing/interactive session with fellow peers who are making giant strides in media practice.

 The resources persons for the programmes are Mr. Lekan Otufodunrin, renowned media trainer and journalists with over 20 years in active media practice and Mrs. Funke Alli, one of the early trail blazers of women in media, with years spanning broadcast media. They shall be supported by two distinguished young journalists; Mr. Adeola Akinremi, the features Editor of Thisday newspaper and Mr. Segun Adeoye, the Assistant Online/multimedia  Editor of Tell magazine, amongst others.

According to the Programme Coordinator, target audience are  journalists not more than 35 years  or those having less that 10 years in media practice.
