London School of Economics appoints Jideonwo Creative-in-Residence

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) has announced popular Nigerian media professional and host of the viral talk show #WithChude, Chude Jideonwo as Creative-in-Residence.

Jideonwo’s appointment which takes effect in September 2024 was in recognition of his work in building media brands and platforms across Africa.

According to the school, the appointment comes based on the historic work that he has done building media brands and platforms across the continent, working with millions of young people, and inspiring new narratives and a new generation of leaders including his new platform and studio telling stories that enable Africans in Africa and across the Diaspora.

This new position will see Jideonwo work with the university to map, enable and accelerate the creative industries across Africa, leveraging the resources, networks and partners of the institution.

On Friday 24, May as the university hosted Jideonwo in London, Dr. Martha Geiger Mwenitete of the Institute for Africa, said “Our residents program is part of our strategy to connect with platforms and creative sectors across Africa – and we are excited to welcome as first creative in residence is Chude,” 

 “We are really pleased to have you and we really would like you to influence colleagues to get involved in some of the creative initiatives you will be bringing to the institute” she added

Jideonwo, who had also been a fellow at Yale University and an Archbishop Tutu Fellow reacted to the development by saying “This is an incredible honour and it was completely unexpected – as it wasn’t applied for. It’s an affirmation of a decision years ago to focus only on the work and an affirmation of the work that we continue to do. I love the LSE campus and am heartened by my interactions so far with the institute and I can’t wait to get to work.”

The position will be hosted by the LSE Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa (FLIA), which “focuses on engagement with Africa through cutting-edge research, teaching and public events, strengthening LSE’s long-term commitment to place Africa at the heart of understandings and debates on global issues.”

Jideonwo is a Nigerian creative and media professional whose experience cuts across show hosting, filmmaking, media production and media entrepreneurship. With a media career beginning at NTA as a TV presenter he is popularly known for his talk show #WithChude where he interviews artists, movie producers, actors, actresses, and other notable personalities to speak about their journey to stardom and life issues.  Jideonwo is
